18th September 2018
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: NE
Wind Stength: 15-17
Surf / Sea State: Flat / Swell
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 25.86 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 26.65 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

My best session 2018 I think at the Dip. Sunny and warm NE winds dont normally go together. Flat sea in the kite zone followed by good rolling swell further out, gave good angles, although wind wasn't maxed in kite zone, so couldn't really hit max speed past the car park and had to do it nearer the swell. DC Mike and Lord S tipped us off there was action at the dip, cheers.
Mike was flying on flat water at peak low tide and so I lost at least 1-2 hours arriving 12.45, when he packed up. Could have rigged 7.8 but DC was on 8.6 and Swainey 8.2 so forced on to Goya 8.5 / Bolt 135, probably my best and easiest combo. Chose 50 cm fin to stay high easily with wind and tide same, but really suffered for speed. All sailors were flying and DC slalom training by hunting us down and picking us off one by one. His 127 Isonic / 8.6 Severne Race is hard to hold off downwind.
They kept drag racing too far downwind and I lost a few groynes holding them off so decided to stay on the long and I think best reaches from Kite zone, drag race to carpark and kick upwind to way out past the red/white yacht buoy.
Sailing in out swell coming was fun and tanking it past the car park going out superb. Stayed on water 2.30hrs, resting on board by releasing the power and only sheeting when looking for speed, which again was very poor at 25.86kts with DC 28+.Could have stayed out much longer but wind switched off at 4pm, so crawled in with Swainey.
Agree with DC am too comfortable with straps on the Bolt inboard. Am not feeling the skittishness from flying the fin as on previous boards. Out board I found the straps too hard to get in if it chops up + plus the 50cm fin although super smooth def is too easy as well, but the fin felt like a dagger bd at full pelt downwind. The bog standard 46cm lose grip on a tight beat with big sails, but will have to tweak and see what happens. Today my normal max spd should have been 27kts at least, so dont think am giving the 135 Bolt a chance to fly on the fin as DC said, if planting weight in inboard straps with a 50 fin!
Fitness level now peaked after illness, so gym weights and Hitt sessions paying off. Need a few more windsurf sessions be4 the winter drag as not going to El Medano this year.
